Course maps are posted!
- Half marathon course maps and description – The 13.1-mile course will be a roughly 60-40 mix of pavement, trails, and gravel roads. The views from the “high” points will feature the iconic Mesa Verde National Park landscape while the second half of the course turns runners around to enjoy the majestic sight of the La Platas.
- 5K course maps and description – The out-and-back 5K course takes you out the same way as the half marathon with a turnaround at the top of an uphill stretch promising a fast trip back to the library. Walkers are welcome.
The Fun Run course has yet to be determined but will be a kid-friendly, jogger stroller-friendly course approximately a mile long — perfect for ambling and toddling and strolling.
June temperatures in Mancos, Colorado, average in the high 70s and the month of June historically receives the least amount of precipitation. In other words, perfect racing conditions are highly likely!
The Mancos Public Library has assembled a crack team of athletes, event organizers, and enthusiastic supporters to take over this first-class event. A big thank you to Ben Hahn of The Mancos Project who managed this event the past two years and handed it off to the library.
New for 2016: New half-marathon course, addition of a 5K race and a free 1-ish-mile fun run, plus a health and wellness expo showcasing the best the Mancos Valley has to offer.

And not to worry! The name and logo have changed, but we haven’t taken the “cowboy” out. Here’s a sneak peek at some of the preliminary artwork for this year’s t-shirts being created by Brad Goodell.
